    • Training objectives
    • The basic concepts of training
  2. Adult Learning
    • Pedagogy vs Andragogy
    • Adult learning styles
    • Learning motivations
  3. The Training Cycle
    • Training needs analysis
    • Training objectives and resources
    • Training delivery, presentation and public speaking skills
    • Training evaluation and assessment

Module 2 - Practical Application

Hands-On Training Experience:

Candidates will be tasked with identifying a workplace problem that can be addressed through training. They will then develop a comprehensive training plan using the methodologies covered in Module 1.

Frequently Asked Questions

Train the Trainer is a professional development programme that equips individuals with the skills, knowledge, and techniques needed to effectively train others. It covers instructional design, adult learning principles, delivery methods, assessment techniques, and evaluation processes. This course prepares participants to become competent instructors and assessors capable of developing and delivering high-quality training programmes in their organisations.

Pedagogy is the method and practice of teaching children, where the teacher directs learning and students are dependent learners. Andragogy is the method of teaching adults, who are self-directed, bring life experience to learning, are goal-oriented, and prefer practical, problem-solving approaches. This course focuses on andragogy principles essential for training adult learners in professional aviation environments.

The training cycle is a systematic approach to developing and delivering training consisting of four phases: (1) Training Needs Analysis - identifying what training is required, (2) Training Design - developing objectives, content, and resources, (3) Training Delivery - implementing the training programme with effective presentation techniques, and (4) Training Evaluation - assessing effectiveness and implementing continuous improvement. This course covers all phases comprehensively.

Training needs analysis (TNA) is the systematic process of identifying gaps between current performance and desired performance that can be addressed through training. It involves analyzing organizational needs, job requirements, and individual competencies to determine what training is necessary. This course teaches practical TNA methodologies including performance gap analysis, competency assessment, and stakeholder consultation to ensure training programmes effectively address real organizational needs.

Adult learning styles describe different ways adults prefer to receive and process information. Common models include visual (learning through seeing), auditory (learning through hearing), kinesthetic (learning through doing), and reading/writing preferences. Understanding diverse learning styles helps instructors design inclusive training that engages all participants. This course covers how to accommodate different learning preferences through varied instructional methods and materials.

Training effectiveness is evaluated using multiple methods including participant feedback (reaction), knowledge assessments (learning), on-the-job application (behavior), and organizational impact (results). Common frameworks like Kirkpatrick's Four Levels provide structured evaluation approaches. This course teaches practical evaluation techniques including creating assessment tools, gathering feedback, analyzing results, and using evaluation data for continuous improvement of training programmes.

Effective trainers need subject matter expertise, strong communication and presentation skills, ability to engage diverse learners, patience, adaptability, active listening skills, feedback delivery skills, facilitation abilities, and understanding of adult learning principles. They must also be organized, empathetic, and capable of creating supportive learning environments. This Train the Trainer course systematically develops all these essential competencies through theory and practical application.

Yes, this course is highly suitable for Part-147 maintenance training organisation instructors and assessors. It covers fundamental training competencies required for aviation maintenance instruction including adult learning principles, training cycle management, needs analysis, delivery techniques, and assessment methods. While it provides essential instructor skills, Part-147 instructors should also ensure they meet specific regulatory requirements for their role as outlined in EASA Part-147 regulations.
